What is NFC?
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a short-range, high-frequency wireless communication technology that allows devices to perform contactless point-to-point data transfer and also allows devices to read Near Field Communication (NFC) tags that contain product information. You can also use this feature to pay for or purchase tickets to a bus or event.
What is the standard specification of NFC?
ISO/IEC 18092 (ECMA 340) describes coupling devices operating at 13.56MHz frequency and defines two modes of NFC specification: active mode and passive mode.
The devices are called Initiator and Target, with Initiator being the first party to initiate communication and transmit (self-charged) and Targe being the responding party.
Target is passive if it relies on the absorption of carrier power, and host if it operates with its own power.
In active mode, the initiator and Targe communicate with each other using their own radio frequency magnetic fields. This is the default mode of communication between the initiator and Targe.
In Passive Mode, the Initiator generates the RF fields and the Targe responds to commands from the Initiator and selects the RF fields issued by the Initiator.
The Targe responds to the command from the Initiator and selects the RF field issued by the Initiator.
What is NFC used for?
NFC has many applications in everyday life, including cell phone payments, card punching, identification, data transfer, and more.
