What is LoRa technology?
Lora is the physical layer or wireless modulation used to create long-distance communication connections. Many traditional wireless systems use Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) modulation as the physical layer because it is a very efficient way to obtain low power consumption.
Lora is based on chirp FM spread spectrum modulation, which maintains the same low power consumption characteristics as FSK modulation, but importantly increases the communication distance.
Linear FM spread spectrum has been used for decades in military and aerospace communications, thanks to its long-range capability and robustness against interference, and LoRa is the first commercial low-power application of this technology.
Long-range (LoRa)
LoRa technology’s strong point is long-range technology. A single base station or gateway can cover an entire city or hundreds of square kilometers.
The maximum distance depends on the environment or the obstructions within a given distance, but the link budget of LoRa and LoRaWAN is better than any other standard communication technology.
The link budget, usually given by dBi, is the primary factor in determining the range of communication in a given environment.
Can a LoRaWAN Gateway integrate with a Server?
Because the LoRaWAN Server is the focus and at the same time the difficulty, it is challenging to deploy a standard LoRaWAN in its entirety.
Is it possible to integrate the LoRaWAN Server into the Gateway? This would allow the Gateway to connect directly to the User Server, thus simplifying the deployment.
