The High-performance Passive GPS PCB Antenna is designed with a 36x8mm PCB board size PCB antenna, 2dBi gain, and Ipex/u.FL connector, RG 1.13 low loss cable antenna extender, self-adhesive sticker easy mount to GPS tracking devices.
GPS antennas come in two flavors: active and passive. Active antennas come with a low-noise amplifier (LNA) built into the module, while a passive antenna does not include an amplifier. Active antennas sit on their own board and connect to your printed circuit board with a coax cable.
GPS function usage instructions
There are three types of GPS positioning modes, namely Standalone mode, MS-based mode, and MS-assisted mode.
Stand-alone mode is the more mature and common GPS positioning mode, which is only located by satellite signal.
MS-based mode, also called MSB, first downloads satellite information from the server and then locates the position by satellite signal, which is faster than the stand-alone mode in the star search process. It is similar to the earliest Stand Alone+ fast GPS function.
In MSB mode, every time the GPS function is turned on, if the ephemeris is found to be out of date, the latest satellite information will be downloaded through the data connection.
MS Assisted mode, also known as MSA, obtains the current position of the device directly from the mobile communication company’s server through base station assisted positioning, which can only achieve single positioning due to the limitation of telecom servers.
